The Black Country and Staffordshire will lose two MPs if major reforms of constituency boundaries are taken back off the shelf.

21 May 2015

There has been a lot of talk about proportional representation since the General Election when the Conservatives won a majority with only 34% of te overall vote.

The smaller parties, notably UKIP and The Green Party would have fared significantly better if the number of seat fully reflected the number of votes cast in their favour - `The Green Party would have 24 seats, in line with 3.8% of the votes.

However, it looks like the Conservative government might be going in the opposite direction and securing itself more votes and support by moving the boundaries

of several parliamentary consituencies so thay a number of Labour strongholds are broken up and pockets of Conservative support are gathered to make new, safe Conservative seats.

We will be looking at this in some detail over the coming months because one of the target seats is our own Walsall North.

There is more to come, in the mentime here's a bit of background from the Express and Star.
