some fact and figures behind the results

10 May 2015

First-time Green beats LibDems in Walsall Council elections.

The Green Party, running in Walsall in significant numbers for the first time, finished in 4th place with 4540 votes, ahead of the Lib Dems who had 3874.

While we didn't win any seats support was consistent across the wards where candidates stood and overall Green Party support was in line with national trends.

This was the first time the Green Party in Walsall had fielded candidates in so many wards; previously candidates have stood
in ones and twos with only minimal support.

2015 saw members and supporters mobilised and organised in largere numbers than ever before and results have been encouraging
with the Green Party beating the Lib Dems into 5th place.
